My Bestie

If you are opening this message on Oct 22, It’s my wedding anniversary.

34 years today. How did THAT happen?

It’s a time to pause, reflect and celebrate for Craig and I (ok for me, he’s not too keen on the pausing and reflecting…although he can still recite his vows from memory…lets just say there have been many pop quizzes throughout the years!)

My dad’s advice to Craig when we announced our engagement was, “Think it over son, my life hasn’t been the same since that day I married her mother, and neither will yours.” mike drop. Dad was probably right, but I’m so glad Craig braved it anyway.

I am proud of our marriage, proud of Craig and the life and family we have built together. 34 years ago I honestly had no idea how to do married. I had hopes, for sure, but no roadmap. We just took it one challenge at a time and figured it out as we went.

And here’s my point, we don’t know how things will unfold for us. We think we have all the time we’ll need. Maybe not. We think we need to have every detail nailed down before we start. Definitely not. One of the most difficult aspects about starting something new (whether it's relationships, personal, career) is the “HOW” of it.

People get all tripped up in the “how” so much so they never leave to dock. Stalled in momentum and overwhelmed because they don’t know “how.” The truth is, we never really know the “how” until we accomplish it. There can be a great plan, blueprint or strategy but the adventure takes off, and has a life of its own. And here’s where it gets good: many times it's a more beautiful adventure than any plans could have accounted for. Shazam!!!

Get off that dock. You don’t have all the time in the world. Make mistakes, fail miserably, say you’re sorry, and pick yourself back up to try it again. Take the chance, go after your fantastic life without knowing all of the “hows”. Waiting for the “perfect time” will leave you waiting. Did I tell you Craig and I met on a blind date? Wouldn’t have done that if I needed perfect reassurances ahead of time. Buckle up.

You might end up where you hoped you’d be, or you might end up on a completely different shore, having made many adjustments and pivots along the way. Or, you could always stay safely on the dock and watch.

Where are you waiting for the “how” to be clear before taking that next step? I’ll bet you don’t need it!

➡️ Let me show you how great it feels to have momentum again. I'm your strategy partner for a better tomorrow.

P.S. People ask me what my advice is for remaining married all these years…I say to marry someone you consider better than you are, then endeavor to never disappoint them..(we didn’t have Match.com back then!) Oh, and humor goes a LONG way!!

Grateful for you,

Anne
