Unstuck, Anyone?
Unstuck is the opposite of stuck. Not to be confused with unglued mind you, which isn’t pretty and not optimal (oh, like I”M the only one who can relate? C’mon!) Unstuck implies momentum after being stalled. Like when you get a car out of the mud, start that new job, finish your first week of committed exercise, make progress on that project, end a relationship that is overdue. Unstuck means you are on your way. All sounds good, but why do we get stuck in the first place, and why is it so hard to become unstuck?
Stuckness (yes I am making words up as I go, but stay with me,) is a result of thinking the same thought on a repeat loop. Remember thoughts are answers to the questions we ask ourselves. And if you’ve been with me for a while, you know that thinking the same thing over time becomes not just a thought but a belief. When your mind offers you a belief, it’s rarely challenged. It’s just an “is” right? All good if those thoughts are serving you. I’m suggesting stuckness comes from those negative repeat loop thoughts. So change the question to get a better thought!
If you want great answers, you have to ask great questions. Every question is a choice and so is every thought. So today I chose some powerful questions. Ask them on purpose to get that brain of yours working for you to find powerful answers. Remember our brains like to be right, so that makes the question even more important.
Instead of:
Why am I so overwhelmed?
Why do I always get overlooked?
Why can’t I lose weight?
Why is he so dismissive?
Ask this:
What’s the one thing I can do now?
What can I learn from this?
How can I honor my body today?
What else could be true here?
You know my word for 2022 is “FLOW”. Hard to have that as my word and also allow for stuck right? I am getting to be an expert at pivoting. Not denial, but looking for a healthy way forward. I know you can too. Just takes a little bit of good thought work to get you on your way.
If you need help with it, let’s chat for the 30-min complimentary discussion and we can get some powerful questions ironed out for you. It can be a game changer!
I have a “Better-Question Checklist” if you are interested ( just click reply and I can get it out to you.) Let’s build better questions and get better, more useful answers. We can take our better answers with us next week, as we talk about eight steps to better results.
