Thanks, Past Me

When was the last time you took a minute and said thank you to your past self? After all it’s your past self that laid the groundwork for all the things you enjoy now.

There are many aspects of my life today that wouldn’t exist if my past self wasn’t willing to do hard (and sometimes painful) things:

  • I wouldn’t have had the many career opportunities I’ve had if she didn’t commit to graduating from college

  • I wouldn’t have my two cherished children if she hadn’t endured pregnancy and childbirth

  • I wouldn’t have the connection in my family and marriage if she hadn’t decided to be vulnerable and also insist on saying the hard things that needed to be said.

  • I wouldn’t have the honor to connect with you each week bringing you light, love, hope (and a kick in the pants) if she hadn’t doubled down and become a certified Life Coach.

  • I would never know the promise that my Christian faith holds for me, not only now but after I leave this earth, if I didn’t witness the gift my mother’s faith was to me.

  • I wouldn't have the health I have if she hadn’t been willing to exercise consistently and learn about nutrition.

I feel a lot of gratitude for all the things she did for me. And still I ask the questions:

  • What are the gifts I am working on now for my future self?

  • What are the things I am willing to do today that she will thank me for later?

  • What do I have to offer her?

How about you? What are those things your past self made possible for you now? What are you committed to doing now that your future self will be grateful for?

  • Learn how to stop being so mean to yourself?

  • Forgive someone? And rekindle a cherished relationship?

  • Work at your golf game, and be terrible until you get better?

I’m here for all of it (well you are on your own about the golf.)

Let’s put together your path forward and make your future self so grateful you did.

My client Linda had this to say:

“Anne is honest and real. She shares a perspective that helped me better understand the changes I wished to make. She was able to help me uncover a new path forward. I am so glad I met her when I did. “ -Linda

Grateful for you,

Anne
